Why we do what we do

Four Reasons Why was founded by Mount Gambier single mother of four Trudi Shelton in 2017. She has been tirelessly serving her community since 2016 in her efforts to warm local children in need during winter with the Mt Gambier Winter Wear for Kids In Need campaign. She was nominated and won the Community Leader Award through Women in Business for her incredible dedication and volunteering her time to serve her community. With this award Four Reasons Why was born and she continues her kindness crusade with a board of like-minded professional and passionate women.

“As someone who has experienced hardship and trauma I know how tough life situations can be at times. Now that I am back on my feet I decided it was time to give back to my generous and caring community by helping others in need to get back on theirs.”

What We Do

This initiative strives hard to provide support, assistance and opportunities to locals in need. All donations stay local, for locals.

We have targeted campaigns and calls to action with a focus on good condition pre loved items, brand new goods, winter clothing & footwear, drink bottles, sports equipment and memberships for the identified needs of local children, families and persons, experiencing hardship.

We welcome any businesses or community members with a passion to make a difference who would like support local families with monetary donations or fundraising ideas.

Our Campaigns

Winter Wear

Good condition, pre-loved winter clothing and footwear in good condition and brand new items such as underwear, all donated by our community and redistributed locally to schools and agencies

The Essentials

The Essentials seeks donations of brand new personal hygiene items, essential for daily living, from local businesses and community members

Quench & Play

We believe every child should have access to the basic commodities of their own drink bottle and/or sports ball to kick around the backyard.

SMAP

The Sports Membership Assistance Program provides opportunities to local youth to participate in sport and belong to a local sporting club. An opportunity that families could not otherwise afford

Targeted Campaigns

One of our favourite ways to act in kindness, comes from identifying various needs in our community throughout the year and providing assistance, where practical and where possible, to our local community.

Impact Stories

Support for vulnerable families - Mount Gambier High School

In response to the recent 7-day lockdown in South Australia Four Reasons Why support the Mount Gambier High School Flexible Learning Options program by providing 15 x $50 Coles vouchers to youth in need.

A brighter christmas - Melaleuca Kindergarten

For many of us Christmas is a time of excitement and celebrations and for buying gifts for our loved ones, however with the families from our kindergarten Christmas time was different, a difficult time for many of them, creating much stress financially and they are often in tears telling us that they do not have the extra money to buy gifts for their children and they fear the magic of Christmas and Santa visiting will disappear.
